Germany has rolled out a new online visa application portal, giving applicants a simpler way to start and manage their visa process without repeated visits to embassies.
The platform, launched through its Consular Services system, allows users to fill out applications, upload required documents, and monitor the progress of their requests from start to finish.
Officials say the goal is to make the process easier to navigate while cutting down on paperwork and long queues.
The system also provides clearer guidance on different visa types and what applicants need at each stage.

It explains that applications submitted online are first reviewed to ensure all documents are complete before applicants are invited for a physical appointment either at the consulate in Lagos or at a visa processing centre for certain categories.
The portal currently supports several visa types, including student, research, work, and language course visas.
The move is part of Germany’s broader push to digitise its consular services and improve how people aroundabout the world Nigeria included apply for visas.
