Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he recently underwent treatment for prostate cancer, a condition he kept private until now.
The 76-year-old leader shared the update on Friday while releasing details from his annual medical check-up.
According to him, he chose to delay making the information public for about two months to avoid it being used by Iran for political messaging.
Netanyahu had earlier undergone surgery in December 2024 to treat an enlarged prostate, a procedure that was made public at the time.
However, during a follow-up examination after that operation, doctors discovered a small cancerous tumor in his prostate.
In a statement, his office said the tumor was detected early, measuring less than a centimeter, and had not spread to other parts of the body.
Medical reports released alongside the announcement confirmed that all tests showed no signs of metastasis.
A source familiar with the matter said the cancer was diagnosed several months ago, after which Netanyahu began radiation therapy.
The treatment reportedly lasted about two and a half months and has now been completed.
Netanyahu said the targeted radiation worked, adding that the tumor has completely disappeared.
“Thank God, I am healthy,” he said, describing the condition as a minor issue that has now been fully treated.
