Former Super Eagles striker dies after collapsing during football match

Mr. Michael Eneramo, former Super Eagles striker, has passed away.

According to media reports, Eneramo allegedly slumped and died while participating in a football game in Kaduna State.

The 40-year-old was reportedly playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch located in the Television area of Kaduna when the unfortunate incident happened.

He was introduced as a second-half substitute before suddenly collapsing without any physical contact.

A source familiar with the development said: “He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

“He was pronounced dead at the hospital.”

Eneramo, who had stepped away from professional football, previously featured for clubs such as Beşiktaş J.K., Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Lobi Stars F.C..

Prior to his death, he was reportedly managing a football academy.

Meanwhile, the official handle of Nigeria national football team paid tribute to the former striker on Friday, sharing his photograph alongside the caption, “Rest in peace Michael.”
