Nigerian street-hop artist Portable has stirred fresh controversy after making bold claims about his role in popularising celebrity boxing in Nigeria and the massive sums involved in his recent bout.

He expressed frustration, however, alleging that instead of support, he faced backlash and resistance from others in the entertainment industry.

The singer went on to break down his earnings, claiming he secured ₦40 million just for stepping into the ring, alongside an additional ₦1 million per promotional post. According to him, after making five promotional posts, his total earnings rose to ₦45 million figures he presented as evidence of his value and influence.

Beyond his personal earnings, Portable also highlighted the scale of money circulating around the event. He alleged that a betting company generated as much as $17 million from wagers placed on the fight between him and Carter Efe, noting that a large portion of those bets were placed in his favor.

His comments have sparked intense reactions online. Supporters see his statements as a reflection of his growing influence and ability to attract attention and revenue. Critics, however, have questioned the accuracy of the figures and his claim of pioneering celebrity boxing in the country.

As with many of Portable’s public remarks, the statements blur the line between bold self-promotion and controversy keeping him firmly in the spotlight and at the center of ongoing conversations about entertainment, money, and influence in Nigeria.
