Federal High Court for Lagos don on October 14, 2024, set November 1, 2024, to take decide weda Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) go fit finally take $2.045 million and some properties wey dem link to Godwin Emefiele, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

According to Daily Truth News, Di Lagos Federal High Court don on Monday October 14, set November 1, 2024, wia dem go take decide weda go fit finally take di Mr. Emiefel former CBN governor property and $2.045 million.

Dem go also rule on top Emefiele application wey him challenge court jurisdiction to handle for di forfeiture mata.

On August 25, 2024, court give EFCC permission say make dem temporarily take custody of $2.045 million, seven lands, and shares wey dem link to di former CBN governor name.

Di court decision go play very crucial and important role to take determine di

outcome of di case base on EFCC investigation.

Di Federal High Court na di superior court of record for Naija wit coordinate jurisdiction wey dey follow di High Courts for all di various states for naija.

Di court get di power to determine civil and criminal proceedings, particularly inside mata wey dey related to federal revenue, taxation, banking, and financial institutions dem.

Di court’s jurisdiction dey for inside Naija Constitution of the Federal Republic 1999 (as dem don amend am reach).

EFCC counsel, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, ask court to finally take di $2.045m and share certificates, say nobody do contest am.

For di properties, Mr. Oyedepo com talk say di former CBN Oga no show how him take get di money take buy di tings dem.

Him com ask court say dem fit to give di properties to Federal Government.

But di former CBN Oga lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, com oppose di application, say court no get dat right to give final forfeiture order.

Mr. Ojo sef, com follow ask court say make dem wait until EFCC finish di case dem get against him Oga for Federal High Court, Abuja and Lagos State High Court.

Na dere Justice Akintayo Aluko com order for di interim forfeiture of $2.045 million and some lands on August 15, 2024, after EFCC apply.

Di lands include:

  • Two Duplexes: No. 17b Hakeem Odumosu Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos
  • Undeveloped Land: Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos
  • Bungalow: No. 65a Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos
  • Four-bedroom Duplex: 12a Probyn Road, Ikoyi
  • Industrial Complex: 22 plots of land in Agbor, Delta State
  • Eight Units Apartment: No. 8a Adekunle Lawal Road, Ikoyi
  • Full Duplex: 2a Bank Road, Ikoyi, Lagos

Court also order EFCC to publish forfeiture notice for 14 days, so anybody wey get interest fit show why dem no go forfeit di money and properties finally ¹.
