EKITI STATE, NIGERIA — Members of the Ekiti State Executive Council have donated ₦100 million to support the re-election campaign of Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship election in the state.

The donation was announced during a campaign-related gathering on Wednesday, as political activities intensify across Ekiti State ahead of the upcoming poll.

They also described the gesture as a show of solidarity with the governor’s development agenda and policy direction.

The Ekiti governorship election is expected to be closely contested, with political parties stepping up mobilisation efforts across local government areas.

Governor Oyebanji, who is seeking a second term, has been campaigning on his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and economic development.

The development has sparked conversations among residents about the role of public officials in funding political campaigns.

While supporters argue that such contributions demonstrate loyalty and confidence in leadership, critics often raise concerns about the blending of official positions and political financing.

Party loyalists say the donation reflects unity within the ruling structure in Ekiti State as the election draws closer.

Opposition figures are expected to intensify their campaigns in the coming weeks as they seek to challenge the incumbent administration.
