American rap stars Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks have found rare common ground — and it’s over British Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch.
The two artists, who have spent years publicly feuding, both praised Badenoch this week in separate posts on X, surprising fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
Minaj compared Badenoch to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, writing that Britain would one day portray her in films and television the same way Thatcher has been immortalised in pop culture.
The rapper, known for hits like Anaconda, Starships and Super Freaky Girl, has previously shown support for U.S. President Donald Trump, once calling herself his “number one fan.”
Banks, who has openly admired Badenoch in the past, also urged British voters to back the Conservatives. In one post, she admitted she no longer saw British politics as “a laughing matter” and encouraged people to “listen to Kemi Badenoch.”
She later doubled down on her support, calling Badenoch “a star.”
Last month, Banks shared a clip of Badenoch speaking in Parliament and praised her professionalism, while taking a swipe at Reform UK figure Nigel Farage.
The unexpected political endorsements come at a tense time in British politics, with the Conservative Party trying to recover from heavy local election losses while the governing Labour Party faces internal turmoil.
Despite setbacks at the polls, Badenoch has insisted the Conservatives are rebuilding and preparing for a comeback.
Minaj and Banks both attended New York’s LaGuardia High School and famously fell out more than a decade ago after Banks reportedly turned down an opportunity to tour with Minaj.
While Banks initially gained widespread praise for her breakout single 212, she later became known as much for her online clashes with celebrities as for her music, including public feuds with Minaj, Zayn Malik and Lana Del Rey.
