Taraba State Tribunal Appeal Court upholds election of Darius Ishaku  as the substantial governor of the state.

A Court of Appeal in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, today, has stated that Aisha Alhassan and the All Progressives Congress have no right to challenge the election in which Governor Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party emerged since none of them are members of the PDP.

Mama Taraba, as she is popularly called, the current Minister of Women Affairs, lost her race to become the first female elected governor in Nigeria.

In a ruling, the appellate court reversed the verdict of the lower tribunal that nullifies the election of Governor Darius Ishaku of PDP for not been validly nominated by the PDP

The Appeal Court in upturning the verdict of the tribunal which earlier declared Mama Taraba of APC as winner ruled thus:

“If the Tribunal decides that a candidate elected at an election was not validly nominated, it can nullify the victory, it should order for fresh election and not declare the petitioner the winner of the poll”.
