Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy, and Tems have all earned nominations at the 2026 edition of the BET Awards.
The organisers released the official nomination list on Tuesday ahead of the highly anticipated ceremony, which celebrates excellence in entertainment and Black culture worldwide. The event is set to take place in Los Angeles on June 28, 2026.
Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Asake secured a joint nomination in the ‘Best Group’ category, following their recent collaborative efforts that have resonated with fans globally.
Tems emerged as one of the most nominated Nigerian acts this year, earning three nods. She received recognition in the ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist’ category, as well as a nomination in the ‘BET Her’ category for her song First. Additionally, her collaboration Raindance with British rapper Dave earned a spot in the ‘Viewers’ Choice Award’ category.
Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy also made the list, securing a nomination in the ‘Best Collaboration’ category for his feature on WGFT, a track by American rapper Gunna.
The nominations further highlight the growing global influence of Nigerian music, with Afrobeats continuing to dominate international stages and award platforms.
