NWC insists PMAN President remains suspended
According to the Diaspora Digital Media, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has made a declaration regarding the suspension of PMAN President Pretty Okafor, stating that it remains in effect and has not been lifted.
According to reports, Okafor was suspended on August 23, 2024.
The NWC issued a statement addressing recent public comments made by Pretty Okafor.
The statement, signed by Acting President Sunny Neji, Vice President Zaaki Azzay, and General Secretary Boniface Itodo, reaffirms that Okafor’s suspension remains in effect.
The statement reads in part: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) wishes to address recent public statements made by Mr. Pretty Okafor.
“As stated earlier, Mr. Okafor remains suspended from his position due to serious allegations leveled against him, pending the outcome of the court’s review.
The NWC reaffirms its unwavering dedication to upholding transparency and accountability within the organization.
In light of the allegations leveled against Okafor, the NWC emphasizes the necessity of exercising utmost caution to safeguard the interests of PMAN members and the general public.
The National Committee has issued a clarification regarding a recent meeting held in Abuja with the Registrar of Trade Unions, Mr. Folonipe Amos.
The purpose of the meeting was to address internal disputes within PMAN and reinforce adherence to the association’s constitutional framework.
