New appointment: CSOs dey protest over President Tinubu cabinet wey full wit men

Naija civil society organizations don show strong dissatisfaction wit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recent cabinet reshuffle, especially about di way women no dey represent well for important ministries.

Di Coalition of Concerned Civil Society Organizations of Naija don criticize di appointment of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and Hon. (Dr.) Yusuf Tanko Sununu as heads of Di Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, dem call am “total aberration” wey dey undermine gender equity.

For press conference wey happen for Arewa House for Kaduna, national coordinator Comrade Aminu Abbas Arabi don express concern about di lack of experience for humanitarian work among di new male ministers wey dem appoint.

E argue say women dey naturally beta to handle di sensitive nature of di ministry, as e cite past failures of male-led administrations for similar roles.

Di coalition don call on President Tinubu make e rethink him appointments, dem dey advocate for more women representation, especially for key positions wey dey directly address poverty and humanitarian issues.

Dem also don appeal to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu make she use her influence to promote women empowerment and job opportunities.

Di coalition dey insist say at least one ministerial position suppose dey occupied by woman, dem dey assert say women generally dey show more commitment to tackle di challenges wey di less privileged dey face.

“Na our strong belief and position say di Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation suppose dey run by woman for effective service delivery.”

“Even though di last two women wey dem appoint to head di Ministry no deliver as dem expect, no be enough reason to deny oda qualified, dedicated and competent women di chance to contribute DIir own quota to nation building.

“Di failure of Sadia Umar Farouk and Dr Beta Edu no suppose be wahala for Naijan women.”

“We, therefore, dey patriotically call on Mr. President make e reconsider him choice of appointees for di ministry for di sake of Naija.”

“A cabinet reshuffle and reassignment of portfolios to di ministers wey dey involved no go be bad idea,” dem talk.

Di change for di ministerial appointment dey happen as economic hardship dey worsen and pipo dey frustrate wit di government, wey cause protest against di economic wahala wey dem use tear gas calm down.
