Ibrahim Abubakar, the head of protocol for the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) was shot dead by unknown gunmen at his house in Abuja in the early hours of today.

The Nigeria Football Federation family woke up Wednesday with the sad news of the sudden death of its Head of Protocol, Ibrahim Abubakar.

Abubakar, 43, was brutally murdered in cold blood by dare-devil armed robbers in his home at Kado Estate near Gwarinpa in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

A traumatized NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said of Abubakar’s sudden death:

“He was full of life when he left the office yesterday; the Federation has lost a dedicated and assiduous staff. This is so painful.”

‘Ibro’ as he is fondly called, joined the Nigeria Football Federation in 2007. He will be buried later today at his residence in Kaduna according to Islamic rites.

He is survived by a wife and three boys. May his gentle soul rest in peace, Amen.
