Roma Submit €40m Transfer Bid for Chelsea Winger Alejandro Garnacho

Italian Serie A club AS Roma have intensified their pursuit of Chelsea forward Alejandro Garnacho, submitting a transfer proposal that could be worth up to €40 million as head coach Gian Piero Gasperini continues reshaping his squad ahead of the new campaign.

The Argentine winger has emerged as one of Roma’s top transfer priorities after enduring a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge, where he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter following his move from Manchester United.

According to reports from Italy, Roma have presented Chelsea with a structured offer that includes a €5 million loan fee and an option to purchase the player for €35 million at the end of the loan spell. The agreement could become a compulsory permanent transfer if certain performance-related conditions are achieved during Garnacho’s time in the Italian capital.

If completed under those terms, Chelsea would recover the amount they invested to sign the Argentina international only a year ago.

Roma Ready to Revive Garnacho’s Career

Roma view the 22-year-old as an ideal addition to strengthen their attacking department after identifying pace, creativity and direct wing play as key areas requiring improvement before the start of the Serie A season.

Gasperini is understood to be a strong admirer of Garnacho’s explosive style, believing the Argentine possesses the qualities needed to flourish in Italian football despite his recent struggles in England.

The Giallorossi are optimistic that regular first-team football could help the winger rediscover the form that made him one of Europe’s most exciting young talents during his breakthrough years at Manchester United.

Chelsea Open to Negotiations

Chelsea are believed to be willing to discuss the player’s departure as the club continues a major squad overhaul under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Speaking recently about Garnacho’s future, Alonso acknowledged growing interest from several clubs and admitted that an exit remains a realistic possibility.

The Spaniard explained that discussions have already taken place with the club’s sporting directors regarding potential offers, adding that everyone hopes to reach an agreement that benefits both the player and Chelsea.

Although Roma prefer a loan agreement with an option to buy, Chelsea’s hierarchy have generally favoured permanent transfers this summer as they seek to generate funds for additional signings and maintain financial balance.

Negotiations between both clubs are expected to continue in the coming days as they attempt to find common ground on the structure of the deal.

Argentine Wants Regular Football

Garnacho’s desire to leave Stamford Bridge has reportedly grown stronger following a frustrating debut campaign in West London.

The winger managed just one Premier League goal last season and found consistent playing time difficult to secure.

His absence from the opening phase of Chelsea’s pre-season preparations has further fuelled speculation that his departure is only a matter of time.

Sources close to the player suggest Garnacho wants a club where he can play regularly in order to rebuild his confidence and strengthen his chances of retaining his place in Argentina’s national team ahead of future international competitions.

Roma believe they can offer exactly that opportunity.

Roma Continue Search for Wide Reinforcements

While Garnacho remains one of Roma’s leading targets, he is not the only attacking player under consideration.

The Serie A side have also renewed their interest in West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, who is viewed as another player capable of adding speed, creativity and goals from wide areas.

Club officials are also monitoring Christos Tzolis as an alternative option should negotiations for their primary targets become complicated.

In addition, Roma continue to follow Diego Moreira, with the club maintaining a broad scouting network across Europe’s leading leagues as they look to strengthen multiple attacking positions.

The recruitment strategy reflects Gasperini’s intention to build a more dynamic and aggressive frontline capable of competing for Champions League qualification and domestic honours.

Chelsea Continue Summer Squad Restructure

Chelsea’s willingness to consider offers for Garnacho forms part of a wider rebuilding project under Alonso.

The Blues have already sanctioned several departures this summer while continuing to identify new signings capable of improving the squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Any permanent move for Garnacho would also financially benefit Manchester United, who negotiated a 10 percent sell-on clause when they sold the winger to Chelsea.

That clause means United would receive a percentage of any future transfer fee if Roma eventually complete the permanent signing.

Decision Expected Before Pre-Season Tour

Chelsea are scheduled to depart for their pre-season tour of Australia later this month, and Roma hope negotiations can be concluded before the squad travels.

Securing Garnacho would represent one of the club’s biggest transfer statements of the summer and demonstrate Roma’s ambition to challenge among Italy’s top teams next season.

For the Argentine, a move to Serie A could provide the fresh start needed to reignite a career that still holds enormous potential despite a disappointing campaign in England.

Should Roma also succeed in landing another wide attacker such as Summerville, the club would significantly strengthen its offensive options ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive Serie A campaign.
