Nigerian mental health nurse and content creator Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known online as Bus Aunty, has celebrated a remarkable recognition in the United Kingdom after a bus stop was named after her.
The unusual honour was presented by Transport for London (TfL), following the growing popularity of Bus Aunty’s distinctive London bus-themed content.
Orojuogun shared her excitement on social media, thanking TfL and its staff for the recognition. She also posted behind-the-scenes footage from the memorable moment, including photographs with members of the transport organisation.
Bus Aunty gained a large following by creating videos centred around her fascination with London buses. Her signature content often shows her standing at a strategic position while buses pass behind her, creating the illusion that she is dangerously close to the vehicles.
The unusual videos initially caused concern among viewers, with some questioning whether she was putting herself at risk. However, she later explained that the apparent closeness was largely created by camera positioning and perspective, while she actually maintains a safe distance from the buses.
Her unique approach eventually turned into a recognisable online brand, attracting a growing audience and attention from businesses and organisations.
The TfL recognition represents another major milestone in her journey as a content creator, transforming what began as an unusual fascination with London buses into a distinctive digital identity.
Bus Aunty has also enjoyed memorable encounters beyond her bus content. She recently met Nigerian music star Davido during his London tour after previously identifying him as one of her dream collaborators.
Her latest achievement has therefore added another chapter to an increasingly remarkable story — showing how an unconventional passion can develop into a platform capable of attracting attention far beyond social media.
