Afrobeats Star FOLA Gifts His Mother a Car, Reveals the Two Things She Asked Him For (VIDEO)

Rising Afrobeats singer FOLA has celebrated his mother in a special way after fulfilling the two major requests she made when his music career began to take a positive turn.

The singer recently revealed that when his fortunes started changing, he asked his mother what she would like him to do for her. According to FOLA, she gave him just two requests: a building for her church and a particular car.

Years later, the singer has now fulfilled both wishes.

FOLA disclosed that he had recently presented his mother with the specific car she once requested, completing a promise that began during the early stages of his career.

The achievement is particularly meaningful because his first major gesture towards his mother was not a luxury purchase for himself. Instead, he used part of his early music earnings to acquire a piece of land in Ibadan for her.

His mother subsequently built her church on the property, meaning one of the two wishes she shared with her son had already been fulfilled.

The new car therefore completes the second part of the promise.

Reflecting on the journey, FOLA expressed gratitude for how far his career has progressed, especially considering the challenges he faced before gaining recognition in the Nigerian music industry.

Before his music career began to take off, the singer worked as a Bet9ja cashier in Ibadan while continuing to pursue his passion for music.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his ambitions at the time, FOLA has credited his mother with consistently encouraging him. He has previously spoken about how she believed he would eventually become a successful musician and continued to support his dreams.

That belief has now seemingly paid off, with the singer becoming one of the emerging names attracting attention in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene.

FOLA gained wider recognition with his song “Alone” and has since collaborated with several established artists, including Ayra Starr, Wizkid, BNXN, Zlatan and Victony.

He is signed to Dangbana Republik and Empire and released his debut studio album, Catharsis, in 2025.

Sharing the latest milestone with fans has earned FOLA praise from social media users, many of whom applauded him for remembering his mother as his career progressed.

For the singer, however, the moment appears to mean much more than simply buying a car.

It represents the completion of two promises made to the woman who stood by him before the fame, recognition and success arrived.

From working as a cashier in Ibadan to becoming a recognised Afrobeats act, FOLA’s journey has taken a remarkable turn — and one of the people closest to that journey is now enjoying the rewards alongside him.
