FBI declares Nigerian-born man wanted, offers $10,000 reward

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation has declared Nigerian-born Olumide Adebiyi Adediran wanted and offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.

The FBI said Adediran, who has ties to South Florida, is wanted for allegedly violating the conditions of his release in connection with federal fraud charges dating back to 2001.

According to a wanted notice published on the agency’s official website, Adediran allegedly entered a bank in Champaign, Illinois, in August 2001 and attempted to withdraw money using a fraudulent cheque.

The FBI also accused him of using stolen personal information belonging to US citizens to open bank and credit card accounts.

The agency said Adediran fled the Central District of Illinois in late December 2001, shortly before his trial on federal charges of bank fraud, identification document fraud and credit card fraud.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for him on January 2, 2002, by the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois in Urbana, after he was accused of violating the conditions of his release.

The FBI said Adediran is also known by several aliases, including Kevin Olumide Adediran, Kevin Deumiof Adediran, Eric O. Williams, Stephen Dediyi, Maxo Alexandre, Olumide Adkins, Ademola O. Adebiyi and Edward N. Anderson.

The agency described him as a Black male born on October 11, 1968. He is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

The FBI’s Springfield Field Office is handling the case.

The agency urged anyone with information about Adediran’s whereabouts to contact their nearest FBI office, US embassy or consulate.

Members of the public can also submit anonymous tips through the FBI’s online platform.
