The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs and other areas of the campaign.
The movement announced the council in a statement on Thursday, naming its Director-General, John Ughulu, as Director-General of the campaign. The National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.
The structure includes representatives from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators appointed for all 36 states.
Other portfolios include grassroots mobilisation, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.
The development comes as the movement steps up preparations for the joint presidential ticket of Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Movement Charges Council Members With Grassroots Mobilisation
In a message to the newly appointed members, Sani described their appointments as a call to duty and urged them to take the message of the movement’s principals to communities across the country.
She said the council had been entrusted with the responsibility of taking the movement’s message from cities to grassroots communities, including states, local governments and wards.
Sani also said the movement was built around what it described as a broader national vision rather than individual political interests.
She urged members of the council to approach their assignments with discipline, loyalty, humility and commitment to the movement’s stated objectives.
According to her, the campaign would require grassroots mobilisation, strategic planning, effective communication and cooperation among its members.
She added that the immediate task was to ensure that the message of Obi and Kwankwaso reached Nigerians across the country.

Among those appointed are Suleiman Abubakar as North-Central Coordinator; Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West; Amadu Gwambe for the North-East; Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West; Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South; and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
The movement also appointed state coordinators for the 36 states and the FCT.
Other appointees include Rev. Mike Agbon as Director, Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua as Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi as Director of Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya as Director of Contact and Engagement; and Abdumumini Tijjani as Director of Mobilisation.
Yusuf Mani was named Director of Special Duties, while Peace Daful will oversee Procurement. Prof. Charles Nwekeaku was appointed Director of South Eastern Town Hall, and Sunmisola Adebayo will head Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will oversee Strategy and Planning, while Richard Enemona, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, was named Director of Security and Intelligence.
Aisha Abdulrahaman was appointed Director of Administration.
Movement Maintains Independent Structure
The development follows the movement’s position last month that it would retain its independent structure rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group also backed Ughulu as its founder and Director-General.
The unveiling of the campaign council came days after the movement condemned the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State.
The movement called for an impartial investigation into the incident and said its security personnel exercised restraint to prevent the situation from escalating into violence.
