Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about her daughter’s education, revealing that she is currently being homeschooled as she receives additional lessons in arts and crafts.
Makinwa said homeschooling her daughter comes at a significant financial cost, but she believes the investment has been worthwhile as she watches the child develop and reach important milestones.
“My daughter is homeschooled, and it’s not cheap. She also does arts and crafts with another teacher,” Makinwa said.
According to the media personality, her daughter’s teacher had previously predicted that she would begin reading by the age of two.
“Her teacher said she would start reading by age two, and I think I’ve done well as a mom,” she added.
Makinwa’s comments highlight the personalised approach she has chosen for her daughter’s early education, combining homeschooling with specialised activities outside the main lessons.
Beyond academics, the addition of arts and crafts gives the child an opportunity to explore creative activities while developing other skills in a more individualised learning environment.
The media personality’s remarks have also sparked conversations about the cost of private education and homeschooling, particularly for parents who choose to provide their children with one-on-one teaching and additional extracurricular instruction.
For Makinwa, however, the financial commitment appears to be part of her broader approach to raising her daughter and supporting her development from an early age.
Her comments offer a glimpse into the parenting choices she has made while balancing her public career with motherhood.
