The Ughelli North Local Government Council in Delta State has sealed a property belonging to Ambassador Tobore Alex Agbah, organiser of a 10,000-man awareness march for the National Democratic Congress.

Agbah alleged that the action was politically motivated and linked to his role in organising the NDC march held in Ughelli on Saturday.

He said officials moved to inspect the property during the march and later sealed it on Sunday without prior notice.

Agbah claimed the property had existed for decades without any issue and alleged that the council chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, had threatened to frustrate him because of his political activities.

He appealed to the Federal Government and relevant authorities to intervene, arguing that political differences should not lead to victimisation.

However, Egbo denied the allegation, saying the property was sealed because it was allegedly built beneath a high-tension electricity line.

The council chairman said his officials had written to Agbah several times over alleged violations of environmental regulations but that he failed to comply.

Egbo said the council had carried out more than 30 demolitions since he assumed office involving structures allegedly blocking waterways or built under high-tension lines.

He insisted that Agbah’s political affiliation had nothing to do with the enforcement action.

“Being in opposition does not make you above the law,” Egbo said, challenging Agbah to produce approval for the structure.

The council chairman also accused Agbah of branding a vehicle without paying the required mobile advertising fee.

Egbo said the council would enforce the relevant regulations if Agbah failed to provide approval for the structure or pay the prescribed advertising fees.
