Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has been honoured in Accra, Ghana, with the launch of a legacy project celebrating his decades-long contribution to African film and storytelling.

The event, held on October 4 as part of Accra Legacy Week, brought together Ghanaian celebrities, cultural figures and industry personalities who joined in celebrating the 79-year-old Nigerian actor, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most respected screen veterans.

The newly launched Pete Edochie Legacy Project is aimed at preserving and celebrating the actor’s influence and body of work for future generations.

Edochie, who expressed his delight at being in Ghana, also reflected on his long marriage and the principles he believes have helped sustain it for decades.

The actor, who has been married for 57 years, attributed the longevity of his marriage to early commitment, discipline, faith and his ability to remain focused.

He also spoke about the importance of maintaining a disciplined lifestyle and avoiding distractions, while highlighting activities such as classical music and reading as part of the habits that have helped shape his outlook.

The event organisers and participating Ghanaian personalities described the legacy initiative as an opportunity to preserve the lessons, performances and wisdom associated with the veteran actor for younger generations.
