LONDON — Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Premier League club until June 2030, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
The new agreement extends Arteta’s tenure beyond a decade since he took charge of Arsenal in December 2019. His previous contract was due to expire at the end of the 2026–27 season.
The Spaniard has overseen a significant transformation at the north London club, culminating in Arsenal winning their first Premier League title in 22 years last season.
Arteta Extends Arsenal Project
Arteta described the decision to remain at Arsenal as a privilege, expressing his commitment to continuing the work with the club’s players, staff and supporters.
He said Arsenal was unique because of its character and the feeling it creates, adding that he was pleased the club’s journey would continue.
The 44-year-old manager joined Arsenal’s coaching setup after serving as a player at the club and succeeded Unai Emery as manager in December 2019.
Premier League Title Highlights Progress
Arteta’s most significant achievement came last season when Arsenal ended a long wait for the Premier League championship.
The title represented the culmination of several seasons in which Arsenal established themselves among England’s leading clubs. The team had also returned to the Champions League under Arteta after a six-year absence.
He also won the FA Cup during his first season as Arsenal manager, giving him a major trophy early in his tenure.
Under his leadership, Arsenal have developed into regular contenders for major domestic and European honours.
Coaching Staff Also Stay
The contract extension also provides continuity for Arteta’s coaching team, with key members of his backroom staff receiving extended agreements.
Arsenal’s hierarchy expressed confidence in the manager’s continued leadership and highlighted the progress made since his appointment.
The club’s decision to extend Arteta’s contract comes as Arsenal prepare for another campaign involving domestic competition and the Champions League.
Looking Ahead
Arteta’s new deal is expected to provide a long-term foundation for Arsenal as the club seeks to build on its Premier League success.
Having already ended the club’s 22-year wait for the English top-flight title, Arteta will now remain in charge through June 2030 as Arsenal pursue further domestic and European success.
The contract confirmation ends weeks of speculation over his future and secures the manager’s position at the Emirates Stadium for the next four seasons.
