Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor’s Daughter dies 7 months after wedding

Blessing Olumuyiwa Adewumi, the daughter of Akwa Ibom State’s Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, has passed away.

The heartbreaking development comes just seven months after her grand wedding ceremonies in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Southern Nigeria, where she tied the knot with her beloved husband, Olumuyiwa Adewumi.

Sources did not reveal the cause of death to Diaspora Digital Media.

Blessing’s traditional and church weddings were highly publicized, attended by numerous high-profile dignitaries from across the nation.

The impressive guest list included Governor Pastor Umo Eno, former Governor Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governors of Ekiti State, Zamfara State, Delta, Abia, and Edo State, amongst others.

A representative of the First Lady of Nigeria and various senators also made notable appearances at the ceremony.

The wedding ceremony held at the International Worship Centre, Uyo, was officiated by Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia, Founder of Insight Bible Church, who was supported by an array of Archbishops, Bishops, and other Pastors.

In a related development, Akwa Ibom State had lost the Governor’s wife, Deaconess Patience Umo Eno, recently, after a protracted illness.

Her remains were interred in November 2024.

Governor Umo Eno’s daughter, Mrs Helen Obareki, now serves as First Lady-designate in the government house.
