Secondus: Kingmakers must step aside once a king is crowned

Uche Secondus, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has weighed in on the ongoing political dispute between former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the former PDP Chairman emphasized the importance of respecting leadership transitions, asserting that the role of a “kingmaker” must end as soon as the leader takes office.

He criticized Wike for not accepting Fubara’s authority despite having handed over power to him.

In a video shared by Symfoni TV, Secondus made it clear that the role of a kingmaker is temporary.

Once a king is crowned, the former must step aside to allow the newly appointed leader to govern without interference.

He pointed out that Wike’s refusal to accept Fubara’s leadership creates unnecessary tension and undermines the smooth functioning of the government.

Secondus commended Fubara for his leadership qualities, highlighting his character, responsibility, and calm approach to governance.

Despite facing several challenges, Fubara has managed to win the confidence of the people of Rivers State.

According to Secondus, Fubara’s steady leadership has brought stability to the state during a time of uncertainty.

He noted that Fubara’s focus has been on serving the people and ensuring that the state continues to progress, even amidst adversity.

Secondus further praised Fubara for his ability to navigate the challenges that come with leading a state, especially one as politically significant as Rivers.

He emphasized that Fubara’s leadership has been marked by a commitment to the well-being of the people, and his tenure has been characterized by a thoughtful and measured approach.

Secondus suggested that it was time for Wike, now a minister, to step back and allow the governor to perform his duties without undue influence from the former leadership.

Secondus’ comments come amidst ongoing reports of tensions between Wike and Fubara, with both figures having differing views on the direction of the state’s governance.

Wike’s transition to the federal cabinet has not dampened his influence in the state, and his perceived interference in Fubara’s leadership has raised concerns.

In conclusion, Secondus urged Wike to recognize that his time as the leader of the state had ended.

It was now Fubara’s turn to lead Rivers State.
