South East PDP stakeholders reaffirm confidence in Anyanwu as National Secretary

South East stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reiterated their support for Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revaild that this affirmation came during a key meeting held at the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja.

The session, organized by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) aligned with the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, aimed to solidify leadership within the party.

However, it was marked by the absence of notable figures such as Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, and various South East senators.

The meeting, which was overseen by Anyanwu and Deputy National Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, served as a platform for pivotal decisions, including the removal of Ali Odefa as PDP National Vice Chairman for the South East.

Odefa was replaced by Chidebere Ugwu, a move that was ratified by the gathered stakeholders.

During the meeting, Anyanwu addressed the tensions and internal conflicts within the party, particularly his involvement in the Imo State governorship race.

He accused Odefa of trying to destabilize his position, highlighting a pattern of undermining tactics.

Anyanwu also spoke candidly about the campaign to discredit him, noting that he had been subjected to blackmail with the use of forged PDP election guidelines.

According to Anyanwu, these documents falsely declared his position vacant, even though he had been duly elected at a national convention.

He made it clear that his removal could only be legitimate if another national convention decided to do so, underscoring the constitutional processes that govern the party’s leadership.

In his speech, Osuoha emphasized the importance of unity among PDP leaders in the South East.

He called for an end to the infighting and internal divisions that had been hindering the party’s progress in the region.

Osuoha urged the stakeholders to focus on building cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the party’s survival and success depended on their ability to put aside differences and work together.

He also pointed out that internal unity was crucial if they hoped to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election cycle.

The gathered stakeholders expressed a collective resolve to prioritize the party’s unity and to stand behind Anyanwu’s leadership.

Their endorsement was seen as an important gesture to stabilize the party’s leadership in the South East, and it reflected their confidence in his ability to guide the PDP in the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a communiqué was issued, officially reaffirming the stakeholders’ support for Anyanwu’s continued tenure as National Secretary.

The endorsement was significant, especially considering the absence of key South East leaders, and it was seen as a clear message that Anyanwu’s leadership remained strong and resolute.

With the 2027 elections in focus, the stakeholders pledged to overcome internal conflicts and present a united front in their efforts to strengthen the PDP and challenge the APC.

The meeting demonstrated that despite the internal challenges the party faces, the South East stakeholders are committed to ensuring that Anyanwu remains in his post and continues to lead the party towards success.
