According to Diaspora digital media (DDM), a tragic incident occurred in Oba, Anambra State, where a group of tipper drivers allegedly attacked and killed five operatives of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA).

The tipper drivers reportedly ran over the SASA operatives with their vehicles during the violent altercation.

The Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) was established by the Anambra State government to curb touting and maintain order on the roads.

Following the tragic event, a violent clash broke out between the tipper drivers and SASA operatives in the area.

An eyewitness stated that the attack by the tipper drivers appeared premeditated and well-planned.

Karen James, the spokesperson for SASA, said the operatives were carrying out an enforcement operation when the incident occurred.

She explained that the notorious garage in Oba, where the clash happened, is a hub for criminal activities.

According to her, the SASA officers were not there to block the tipper drivers but to perform their lawful duties.

She further described claims that SASA operatives attempted to obstruct tipper drivers as completely false.

Eyewitnesses revealed that upon arrival, SASA operatives were immediately surrounded by tipper drivers armed with dangerous weapons.

Sensing danger, the SASA officers attempted to retreat from the scene to avoid further escalation.

However, the tipper drivers allegedly blocked all escape routes and deliberately rammed into the officers.

This brutal attack resulted in the tragic deaths of five SASA operatives on the spot.

Additionally, six individuals sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.

Reports also indicate that four people remain unaccounted for following the violent confrontation.

According to Karen James, the attack was a revenge mission by the tipper drivers.

She claimed the assailants sought to retrieve items seized during a previous enforcement operation.

After killing the SASA officers, the tipper drivers allegedly fled the scene before security operatives arrived.

A manhunt has been launched by the police and other security agencies to track down the perpetrators.

Authorities have assured the public that those responsible for the deadly attack will be brought to justice.

Security forces have also intensified patrols in Oba to restore peace and prevent further violence.

The state government has condemned the attack and vowed to take decisive action against the assailants.

The tragic incident has raised concerns over growing tensions between enforcement agencies and transport workers.

As investigations continue, residents are urged to remain calm while security agencies work to restore order.
