Former Deputy Senate President and 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared that the party is open to welcoming new members.

He stated that the party will not accept two key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The two PDP leaders he referred to are Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Speaking during a meeting with party stakeholders in Ika South and Ika North East local government areas, Omo-Agege emphasized APC’s growing strength.

According to Diaspora digital media (DDM) he insisted that while APC is expanding in Delta State, it has no interest in accommodating the two PDP leaders.

Instead, he urged them to remain in PDP and focus on rebuilding their party.

“The APC is expanding rapidly in Delta, and many political figures are interested in joining us,” he said.

“We have made significant progress, and our victories in the last elections prove that our party is gaining strength.”

Omo-Agege highlighted that party secured two senatorial seats and two House of Representatives seats in the 2023 elections.

He explained that this success shows the party’s growing influence in Delta State.

However, he made it clear that Oborevwori and Okowa would not be welcomed into the party.

“We welcome everyone except Oborevwori and Okowa.

They should remain in PDP and rebuild their party,” he stated.

Discussing the political landscape in Delta Central Senatorial District, Omo-Agege pointed out APC’s victories in several key elections.

He noted that APC won the senatorial seat, two out of three House of Representatives seats, and five out of nine House of Assembly seats.

He also stated that PDP failed to secure a single seat in the district.

According to him, this reinforces the notion that APC is now a dominant force in the area.

Dismissing claims by PDP that APC had lost its footing in Delta State, Omo-Agege countered their argument.

He said the only remaining PDP senator in the state was on the verge of defecting to APC.

He added that several House of Representatives members were also considering leaving PDP for APC.

“We are growing, and PDP is declining,” he remarked.

He also criticized Governor Oborevwori’s administration for allegedly trying to undermine APC’s influence.

He insisted that APC remains strong even in areas where PDP had traditionally held sway.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Omo-Agege assured party members that internal disputes within APC would be resolved.

He said the ongoing national crisis within PDP could further weaken the party before the next election.

According to him, this situation would make APC the preferred choice for many politicians in Delta State.

Reaffirming his stance on Oborevwori and Okowa, Omo-Agege stressed that APC was built through years of dedication and hard work.

“We have built this party from the ground up, and we will not allow anyone to destroy what we have worked so hard for,” he stated.

“While APC is open to new members, these two leaders should stay in PDP to rebuild it.”

With the political landscape shifting, Omo-Agege expressed confidence that APC would continue to strengthen its position in Delta State.
