Hamas explains delay of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners
Terror group alleges assault

In the ongoing prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, Hamas on Saturday laid claims there has been a delay to the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners because they have been “assaulted”.
All six Israeli hostages due to be freed today have been handed over by Hamas.
Hamas has not explicitly explained the delay in the Palestinian prisoner release.
However it is worth noting that the prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel is ongoing, with the first phase of the ceasefire nearing its end.
As part of this deal, Hamas was expected to release 602 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
However, the release has been delayed, and no official explanation has been provided by Hamas.
In a related development, Hamas did release six Israeli hostages, who were reunited with their families. The release ceremony was criticized by the Red Cross and Israel as “cruel and disrespectful”.
It is unclear when the Palestinian prisoner release will take place, but it is likely that further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
