A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has, on Tuesday, slated March 8 for hearing in a suit filed by Senator Buruji Kashamu seeking to stop his extradition to the U.S. to face drug charges
Senator Kashamu had approached the court and asked it to restrain federal agencies from arresting or detaining him, or interfering with his right to personal liberty and freedom of movement.
Respondents in the case include the National Drug law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Director General, Department of Security Service (DSS), and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).
Kashamu was the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
He is currently the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming governorship election on March 2.
