The African Democratic Congress (ADC) amended its constitution to enhance political inclusivity following a National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revealed that during the gathering, leaders resolved to eliminate membership restrictions for election candidates, broadening access to their platform.

Chief Ralphs Nwosu emphasized the party’s commitment to offering credible alternatives for patriotic Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

He further stated the ADC now prioritizes merit and transformative leadership, inviting passionate individuals to join its ranks.

Additionally, the party abolished its two-year membership rule, permitting new members to immediately vie for political office.

This reform seeks to attract diverse candidates and foster broader political engagement nationwide.

To strengthen unity, the ADC introduced an annual “Handshake” ritual on Nigeria’s Independence Day, symbolizing national solidarity.

Scheduled for October 1st, the ceremony will serve as a public gesture of cohesion among citizens.

Concurrently, Nwosu announced his decision to step down as chairman, stressing the need for new leadership.

He emphasized fresh leaders’ role in driving a corruption-free movement and mobilizing support effectively.

Regarding potential alliances, Nwosu clarified no recent discussions occurred with Peter Obi but affirmed openness to collaboration.

He reiterated the ADC’s willingness to partner with Obi should shared goals align in the future.

Looking ahead, the ADC is engaging the People’s Redemption Party and civil society groups for coalition-building.

These discussions aim to form a united front capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges by 2027.

Nwosu declared the coalition’s intent to rally Nigerians behind credible leaders prioritizing national well-being over personal gain.

Collectively, the constitutional amendments and strategic initiatives mark a pivotal shift in the ADC’s political strategy.

By removing entry barriers and fostering alliances, the party positions itself as a transformative force in Nigeria.

These efforts seek to galvanize public support for accountable governance ahead of the next general elections.

Through inclusive policies and symbolic gestures, the ADC aims to redefine political participation and restore trust in leadership.

Ultimately, the reforms underscore a bold vision to reshape Nigeria’s democracy through transparency, unity, and citizen-centered governance.
