President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reportedly collaborating with opposition governors in what some describe as a bold political strategy.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy and Communication, insists Tinubu’s motive is national unity, not partisan control or political dominance, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.

He said Tinubu is committed to leading a national consensus aimed at achieving what he called “the Nigerian dream.”

Bwala referenced several recent events where the president or his representative engaged opposition governors positively and without reservation.

On February 27, 2024, Vice President Shettima visited Abia State to commission projects on behalf of the president.

During that visit, Shettima praised Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party for his developmental efforts and governance.

Bwala stated the visit was proof that the president values performance over political party affiliation in national matters.

On January 4, 2025, President Tinubu himself visited Enugu State and commissioned several ongoing projects in the region.

During the visit, he commended Governor Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party for good governance and commitment.

Most recently, on May 8, 2025, Tinubu traveled to Anambra to commission projects and offer similar commendations.

He praised Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for his leadership and efforts in infrastructure delivery.

“These governors are not APC members, yet Tinubu continues working with them openly and without political prejudice,” Bwala explained.

He argued that Tinubu’s actions highlight genuine leadership, not a covert attempt to neutralize opposition voices through cooperation.

Critics, however, claim the president’s outreach could be a strategic effort to absorb opposition into his political sphere.

Bwala dismissed these criticisms, labeling them as distractions fueled by “lazy, hallucinated wild goose chasers.”

He insisted President Tinubu is focused solely on results and national development, not building a one-party political empire.

“While others speculate and accuse, Tinubu is commissioning projects and driving governance forward,” Bwala added confidently.

He portrayed the president as a visionary leader who values unity and service delivery above all else.

According to Bwala, Tinubu’s administration welcomes partnership with any leader contributing positively to Nigeria’s progress.

He maintained that performance, not party loyalty, remains the president’s top priority in collaboration efforts.

Observers note this outreach may reduce political friction and encourage more cooperation across Nigeria’s diverse political landscape.

However, skeptics argue it could also blur party lines and weaken the strength of multiparty democracy in the country.

Whether strategic or sincere, Tinubu’s partnership with opposition governors continues to spark debate across the political spectrum.
