The Nigerian Army has officially announced a shift in the timeline for its upcoming recruitment exercise, adjusting the original dates forward by nearly a week.
The new schedule will see the 89 Regular Recruit Intake (89RRI) exercise now take place from June 2 to 16, 2025, contrary to the earlier dates of June 8 to 21, 2025.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the announcement was made on Friday through the Army’s verified X account (formerly known as Twitter), where it issued an important notice to all concerned stakeholders.
The Army clarified that this revised schedule supersedes any previous announcements and urged all shortlisted candidates, as well as the general public, to take note of the changes to avoid confusion or missed appointments.
The Army’s brief statement, titled “UPDATE ON 89RRI RECRUITMENT EXERCISE,” stated:
“The Nigerian Army has rescheduled the 89 Regular Recruit Intake (89RRI) exercise, which will now hold from June 2nd to 16th, 2025.
This supersedes the previous dates of June 8th to 21st, 2025.
All shortlisted candidates and the general public are required to take note of the revised dates.”
No official reason was provided for the change in schedule.
However, it is common for major recruitment exercises, particularly those conducted by the military, to undergo adjustments due to operational logistics, coordination with multiple command formations, or security considerations across different parts of the country.
The Regular Recruit Intake (RRI) is the Nigerian Army’s routine recruitment drive aimed at enlisting young Nigerians into the force.
The 89RRI exercise is expected to attract thousands of applicants across the country, many of whom have undergone online registration and await screening at designated recruitment centres nationwide.
The RRI recruitment typically includes physical and medical screenings, document verification, aptitude tests, and other assessments to determine candidates’ suitability for military service.
It is also an opportunity for qualified Nigerian youths, especially those with only secondary school education, to serve in the country’s defence sector.
The Nigerian Army remains one of the largest components of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and plays a pivotal role in addressing internal security challenges.
