Humiliation: PSG trounce Inter to lift UEFA Champions League trophy

Paris Saint-German on Saturday, May 31, 2025, became the new Champions of the UEFA Champions after trouncing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final at the Munich stadium in Germany.
Inter Milan came into the finals on the back of eliminating highly favoured La Liga giants Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate.
Inter had played out a 3-3 draw at Camp Nou before defeating Barcelona 4-3 at home.
PSG on the other hand defeated high-flying and highly favoured Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates and 2-1 at Parc de Princes.
They thus qualified for the final, to face Inter Milan.
PSG was hoping not to have a repeat of the 2019/20 season where they lost in the finals to Bayern Munich by 1-0.
Inter Milan was also hoping not to have a repeat of the 2022/23 season where they lost in the finals to Manchester City by 1-0.
Many neutral fans of football had given it to Inter Milan, judging by their decent run to the finals.
However, PSG had other ideas.
The Louis Enrique tutored side, having knocked out four English teams enroute the finals, were ready to lift the trophy.
They must have had plans to come at Inter Milan very early in the game, and it paid off when in the 14th minute, Moroccan star, Achraf Hakimi put the French side in front.
It was a superb shot from Hakimi after he cooly cheted down a pass, before taking the strike.
Though it took a slight deflection off an Inter defender, but the shot had enough power to direct the ball into the net.
Désiré Doué doubled the lead six minutes later, with a clinical finish after a well worked team move.
The game ended 2-0 at half time in favour of the Le Parisiens.
In the 63 rd minute, Doué scored his brace of the night and PSG’s 3rd goal, after a quick one-two play, in the box for him to tap in to an empty net in the box.
The very youthful side were in great control of the game,.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made sure that Inter Milan had no way back into the game when in the 73rd minute, he made it 4-0, with an assist from Ousmane Dembele.
When everyone had thought they had seen enough goals in the game, substitute Senny Mayulu completed the rout when he scored PSG’s 5th in the 86th minute.
This was Mayulu’s first ever Champions League goal.
Désiré Doué was named man of the match.
He also became the youngest player to score and assist in a Champions League final.
Louis Enrique also achieved an enviable feat, becoming a coach that has won the Champions League with two different clubs, having previously won it with Barcelona.
He led Barcelona to a 3-1 win against Juventus in the 2014/2015 season.
PSG with this victory also completed a treble this season, having won the Coup de France, the French Ligue un titles.
PSG will play Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup, which pitches the winner of the UEFA Champions League against the winner of the UEFA Europa League.
This victory marked the largest margin of victory in a Champions League final, surpassing Real Madrid’s 7-3 win in the final of the 1960 edition of the competition.
This victory not only marks a new chapter in PSG’s history but also sets a benchmark for future generations, showcasing the power of youth, strategy, and collective effort in achieving European glory.
