Liverpool Football Club has officially announced the departure of seven Academy players whose contracts expired at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that this development forms part of a broader restructuring exercise currently underway at Anfield, as the club prepares for a new chapter following multiple changes on and off the pitch.

Among those leaving is 22-year-old midfielder Dominic Corness, who spent the latter part of the season on loan at Gillingham in League Two.

Corness previously gained experience abroad, playing in the Swiss Super League for Yverdon-Sport, highlighting his versatility and adaptability.

The club is also parting ways with three young goalkeepers, Jakub Ojrzynski (22), Reece Trueman (20), and Jacob Poytress (21), who served primarily as training goalkeepers for both the Under-21 and senior teams.

Injuries have marred the progress of 20-year-old defender Lee Jonas, who now exits the club following a difficult spell marked by limited appearances.

Surprisingly, two promising teenagers from the U18 setup, Louis Enahoro-Marcus and Harry Evers, both aged 18  are also on the release list.

These exits coincide with a broader summer shake-up at Liverpool, where senior team changes have already begun making headlines.

England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher have both been sold in recent weeks.

To reinforce the squad, the club has secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong, a dynamic right-back from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool are also reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez, adding depth to their defensive ranks.

Additionally, the Reds are targeting creative reinforcements, with Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz also on their radar.

While some players are departing, the club is keen on retaining its top prospects, having extended formal contract offers to eight Academy talents.

The list includes defenders Wellity Lucky, Terence Miles, and Emmanuel Airoboma; midfielders Michael Laffey and Kyle Kelly; and forwards Keyrol Figueroa, Ranel Young, and Kareem Ahmed.

These contract renewals signal Liverpool’s commitment to youth development, despite the ongoing turnover at all levels of the club.

In a related move, U18s coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson has stepped down from his post, prompting another internal reshuffle at the Academy.

U16s coach Lewis Nightingale is currently one of the names being considered for promotion to head the U18s.

The recent wave of releases follows a similar pattern to last summer when 11 players exited upon the expiry of their deals.

Last year’s departures included senior figures such as Joel Matip, Thiago Alcântara, and goalkeeper Adrian.

While Matip and Thiago opted for retirement, Adrian made a return to Spain by signing once again for Real Betis.

Some of the Academy players who left Liverpool in 2024 have since secured new opportunities elsewhere in Europe.

Mateusz Musialowski joined Cypriot side Omonia, while Melkamu Frauendorf moved to German outfit Hannover.

Meanwhile, left-back Adam Lewis signed for Morecambe, aiming to reignite his career with regular first-team football.

With further transitions expected at the club’s Kirkby training complex, this summer marks a significant period of evolution for Liverpool’s developmental system.

The changes come at a time when the club is looking to refresh its identity and squad following the departure of long-term manager Jürgen Klopp.

Newly appointed manager Arne Slot is expected to play a central role in shaping the next generation of Liverpool players.

The decisions being made at the Academy level are believed to align with his broader tactical vision and team-building strategy.

Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the club balances youth development with immediate first-team success.

For many of the departing players, the next few months will be critical as they seek new clubs and fresh starts in professional football.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will hope that its retained and newly promoted talents can make a successful leap toward Premier League contention in the coming years.
