China blasts Israeli strikes, warns against violating Iran’s sovereignty

China has on Friday, June 13, 2025, voiced strong opposition to any violation of Iran’s sovereignty following Israel’s military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry, speaking through its spokesperson Lin Jian, urged all parties involved to show restraint.

Lin emphasized the importance of dialogue and warned against actions that could further inflame tensions in the Middle East.

“China firmly opposes actions that undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of any country, including Iran,” Lin said at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.

This statement comes after Israel carried out a major air assault targeting Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites in Natanz and key military installations across Tehran.

The operation, named Rising Lion, has killed senior Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists.

China’s position aligns with its long-standing foreign policy principles of non-interference and respect for national sovereignty.

The government stressed that peaceful consultation is the only viable path to resolving the current crisis.

Beijing’s statement also contrasts sharply with Washington’s recent position. U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged to defend both the United States and Israel if Iran retaliates.

The U.S. has also relocated diplomatic staff and placed regional military assets on high alert.

While Beijing stopped short of directly condemning Israel, its message was clear.

“Unilateral military actions threaten regional peace and stability,” Lin added.

China is a major player in global diplomacy and a key signatory to the original 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

It has repeatedly advocated for a return to the agreement and criticized any military interference that could derail diplomatic progress.

The United Nations has echoed China’s call for restraint.

Secretary-General António Guterres urged all countries to prioritize dialogue over confrontation, warning of devastating consequences if conflict expands.

Meanwhile, the Middle East remains on edge. Iran has launched drones toward Israel in retaliation.

U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria have increased security.

Gulf nations have halted civilian flights over parts of the region due to security risks.

China’s intervention signals growing global concern over the escalation.

This emphasis on sovereignty and  highlights divisions between Western and Eastern powers on how to manage tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

As the situation unfolds, China’s warning underscores the geopolitical complexity of the crisis and the urgent need for de-escalation.
