JUST IN: Britain deploys more fighter jets to middle east amid Iran threat

Britain is deploying additional military assets to the Middle East following rising hostilities between Iran and Israel.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed the move on Saturday, June 14, 2025, during his flight to the G7 summit in Canada.

“We are moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support,” Starmer told reporters onboard.

The UK government said the move aims to strengthen its presence and support stability across the region.

Iran and Israel exchanged missiles and airstrikes on Saturday after Israel launched an aggressive offensive on Friday.

Israeli forces targeted Iranian nuclear facilities and killed several commanders and scientists in coordinated airstrikes.

A spokesperson for the prime minister said preparations for deployment began on Friday morning.

British crews started moving equipment and personnel as tensions escalated in multiple conflict zones.

Additional refuelling aircraft have been dispatched from UK bases to assist the operation.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that more fighter jets will soon arrive in the region.

The UK did not specify the number of assets or exact locations for security reasons.

Prime Minister Starmer emphasized that the move supports contingency planning and reinforces existing commitments in the region.

He added that Britain remains committed to peace and stability in the Middle East.
