Residents of eight communities in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State have accused the state government of forcefully taking over 30,000 hectares of their land.

The affected communities are part of the Mbaishi Autonomous Communities and claim that the government’s actions are unjust and unlawful.

According to reports, the Imo State Government allegedly deployed military personnel to the area to occupy and take control of the land.

The communities claim that the military personnel have been preventing them from accessing their farmlands, destroying economic trees and crops, and intimidating residents.

Community leaders and representatives have come forward to narrate their experiences and express their grievances.

They claim that the government’s actions are a breach of their rights and that they have not been consulted or compensated for the land acquisition.

The communities have condemned the government’s actions, describing them as “land grabbing” and “oppressive”.

They are demanding that the government stop the land acquisition and engage in dialogue with them to resolve the issue.

The affected communities are calling on the Imo State Government to intervene and protect their rights.

They are seeking the government’s assistance in resolving the dispute and ensuring that their lands are not taken without due process and fair compensation.

The allegations of land grabbing by the Imo State Government have raised concerns about the rule of law, human rights, and the protection of citizens’ properties. If true, these allegations would be a serious breach of trust and would undermine the confidence of communities in the government.

The government should take necessary steps to investigate these allegations and ensure that the rights of the affected communities are protected.
