Ekiti: Man Remanded in Custody Over Alleged Assault, Threat to Life

A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti District, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of Caleb Ajobor.
Caleb, 31-year-old faces serious allegations, including assault and issuing threats to life against a woman.
Consequently, the court is taking steps to ensure justice is served effectively.
The court learned that Ajobor endangered the life of Omotayo Olowolagba in the Ekute area of Ado Ekiti.
His actions reportedly caused significant distress to the victim, prompting legal action to protect her from further harm.
Thus, the court’s decision aims to address these alarming allegations comprehensively.
During the proceedings on Wednesday, Police Prosecutor Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi presented crucial details of the incident.
He stated that the event occurred on June 29, 2025, around 10:00 am at Ekute Quarters.
The court now evaluates the evidence presented against Ajobor to determine the validity of the allegations made.
According to Inspector Oriyomi, the defendant allegedly assaulted Olowolagba by hitting her chest violently. Furthermore, his behavior disturbed public peace, leading to the charges against him.
“The offence committed is punishable under sections 185, 46, and 181(d) of the Ekiti State laws,” Oriyomi explained.
He emphasized the seriousness of the charges and the need for appropriate legal consequences.
Inspector Oriyomi requested the court to remand Ajobor in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
He argued that this measure was necessary to ensure public safety and justice for the victim.
In contrast, the defense counsel, Adunni Olanipekun, sought bail for her client.
She assured the court that Ajobor would not abscond if granted bail, emphasizing his commitment to the legal process.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun denied the bail application and directed that the defendant be remanded in custody.
The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case to July 11 for further hearing.
This case underscores the legal system’s commitment to addressing issues related to public safety and ensuring justice for all parties involved.
