Rotimi Amaechi dumps Amaechi, laments Nigeria's woes under present government

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that Nigerians are yearning for the return of former President Muhammadu Buhari due to the economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Amaechi, who recently resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed concerns over Nigeria’s economic situation.

Amaechi highlighted the rising inflation, food scarcity, and economic difficulties faced by Nigerians.

He noted that Nigerians have started recalling the Buhari era with nostalgia, with some even wanting his return.

Amaechi criticized the handling of the economy, citing the fall of the naira as one of the administration’s biggest failures.

Amaechi announced his resignation from the APC, citing the party’s poor state and his disapproval of its leadership.

He revealed his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), aiming to bring Nigerians together to take over the government.

Former Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami also resigned from the APC, joining the ADC.

Their defection is seen as a major realignment in the build-up to the 2027 general elections, with the ADC positioning itself as a new platform to challenge the ruling party.
