Former Wales star Gareth Bale has tabled a £40 million bid to acquire Cardiff City, his hometown football club.

Sources confirm that the 35-year-old, who retired from professional football in 2023, is looking to invest in Welsh football and support grassroots development.

The bid is currently being reviewed by Cardiff City’s board and principal owner Vincent Tan.

Bale aims to introduce modern footballing infrastructure, elevate academy development, and restore the club’s Premier League ambitions.

Bale, born in Cardiff, has often spoken about his connection to the city and his desire to contribute to Welsh football post-retirement.

If successful, the takeover could mark a new era for Cardiff City, who currently compete in the EFL Championship.
