Former Arsenal and Ghana international midfielder, Thomas Partey, has been formally charged with multiple sexual offences by authorities in the United Kingdom.

According to official reports, the 32-year-old footballer is facing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three different women.

The charges stem from incidents that allegedly took place between 2021 and 2022, while Partey was still contracted to English Premier League side, Arsenal.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Partey recently became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal expired earlier this week.

The timing of the charges, coming just days after his exit from the club, has drawn intense public interest and widespread media coverage.

Authorities disclosed that two of the rape charges relate to allegations made by one woman, while three other counts involve a second woman.

The single charge of sexual assault concerns a third woman, bringing the total number of alleged victims to three.

Partey is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 5, 2025, to formally respond to the charges brought against him.

As of the time of this report, neither Partey nor his legal team has issued an official statement addressing the allegations.

There has also been no comment from his former club, Arsenal FC.

The charges represent a major development in the career and public image of Thomas Partey, who was once considered one of Africa’s top midfielders.

He joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atlético Madrid and featured in over 100 matches for the London club before his departure.
