JUST IN: PDP BoT Member Waziri Defects to ADC

In a political bombshell, PDP Board of Trustees member Alhaji Adamu Waziri has resigned from the party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Waziri, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the announcement Monday at Dogo Tebo Ward Centre in Potiskum, Yobe State.

He cited national interest and the urgent need to restore democratic values as key reasons for his defection.

Waziri said the PDP had lost credibility and could no longer serve as a strong opposition force in Nigeria.

“I was a member of PDP. Due to the exigencies of the moment and in national interest, I resigned,” he declared.

He followed PDP’s constitution, which mandates resignations be formalized at the ward level.

Waziri said he took the difficult decision after deep reflection on the party’s current direction.

He criticized the PDP’s leadership and accused it of abandoning its founding principles.

“This party no longer represents the hope and vision it once offered Nigerians,” he said.

Waziri urged his supporters to join him in building a new political force with the ADC.

“I call on my boys to follow me as we fight to rebuild democracy and good governance,” he added.

Reacting to the shock resignation, PDP Ward Chairman Malam Muhammad Bomai accepted Waziri’s decision “with a heavy heart.”

Bomai praised Waziri as a pillar of the PDP, describing his departure as a “national political loss.”

In a surprise twist, Bomai also resigned from the PDP on the spot and declared his defection to the ADC.

“I believe in Waziri’s vision. I can no longer remain in a party that has lost its way,” Bomai stated.

He returned Waziri’s PDP membership card during the brief handover ceremony.

With top leaders exiting the PDP for the ADC, signs of deeper cracks within the main opposition party are emerging.
