A Ghanaian woman’s tragic death has shocked Abuja after she fell victim to a brutal “one-chance” robbery gang.

Freda Arnong, a resident of the city, succumbed to severe injuries days after the violent attack, leaving her family and community devastated.

Freda’s brother, Arnong Ememobong, shared the heartbreaking details on social media, revealing how her ordinary evening turned into a nightmare.

After leaving a church gathering near Maitama, she unknowingly entered a taxi operated by criminals.

The masked assailants swiftly blindfolded her and attacked her relentlessly, catching her completely off guard and vulnerable.

Subsequently, they demanded her bank account access; however, they grew furious when she explained her ATM card had been lost weeks earlier.

Despite her explanation, they continued their aggressive tactics, showing no mercy or understanding.

Despite offering alternative solutions, the attackers continued their assault, leaving her battered and helpless near Moshood Abiola Stadium late at night.

Bleeding and in agony, Freda struggled to seek help as cars passed her by.

A vigilant local eventually rushed her to the National Hospital, where doctors discovered broken ribs, lung damage, and internal bleeding.

She fought for days before passing away in the early hours of July 7.

Ememobong’s emotional outcry highlighted systemic failures, questioning why innocent lives remain unprotected.

Advocacy groups echoed his anger, with HURIWA demanding immediate government action to curb rising “one-chance” crimes in the capital.

HURIWA’s leader, Emmanuel Onwubiko, remembered Freda as a kind-hearted supporter of their cause since 2007.

He urged authorities to deploy vigilante patrols, revive abandoned security projects, and enforce stricter laws against such violent robberies.

When pressed for comment, FCT police initially claimed unawareness but promised to investigate.

Public outrage continues to grow, with calls for safer transport systems and justice for Freda amplifying across social media.

Her death exposes Abuja ’s deepening security crisis, forcing citizens to confront the terrifying reality of commuting in the city.
