The death of former President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to generate mixed reactions from Nigerians, sparking a wave of divergent opinions.

While some, especially among the elite and political class, have praised his leadership and vision for Nigeria, many of the downtrodden masses appear to be celebrating his passing.

Interestingly, a significant number of those rejoicing over Buhari’s death are from the northern region, his home base, where he was once deeply revered and admired.

Videos have surfaced online showing youths in Kano jubilating after the news of Buhari’s death broke. Others have been captured on camera declaring they will never forgive him for the hardship he allegedly inflicted on Nigerians.

According DDM In a particular video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, a visibly angry Hausa man can be heard praying that Allah deals with Buhari in the afterlife the same way the former president dealt with Nigerians during his tenure.

According to the man, Buhari was cruel and wicked to the poor, and for that, he vowed never to forgive him.

He recalled how the masses stood by Buhari during his presidential campaigns, offering him unwavering support and love, only to be allegedly abandoned and subjected to untold suffering once he assumed office.

“We thank Almighty Allah that we have seen the end of Buhari,” the man said.

“We voted for him, showed him love, and stood by him. There’s nothing we didn’t do for Buhari, but once he became president, he turned his back on us.

He inflicted pain and agony on the poor.”

“He brought various forms of suffering upon us. But now, look at it, maybe he thought he would live forever. May Allah do to him what he did to us.”

“Today, he has met the reward for his wickedness to the poor. May Allah never give us another leader like Buhari. I swear, I will not forgive him because the level of wickedness, cruelty, and oppression was too much.”

“Allah will judge him. Nobody should tell me to forgive him  I will not. Buhari was cruel and wicked, especially to the poor. What he did to us, may Allah do the same to him.”

The video has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing similar sentiments while others urge for a more compassionate view of Buhari’s legacy.
