Bianca Ojukwu Urges Diaspora Nigerians to Invest in Health Sector

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, urged Nigerians abroad to actively invest in healthcare infrastructure.
By doing so, they can help curb the increasing trend of medical tourism.
Furthermore, she encouraged them to view their international residences as temporary.
Redirecting their skills, resources, and experiences can significantly foster development in Nigeria.
The minister delivered these remarks at the 16th Annual Mbaise USA Convention in Minnesota.
During this event, she officially launched the construction of the Medville Medical City in Uvuru, Mbaise, Imo State.
This ambitious project, spearheaded by the Nigerian diaspora community, aims to revolutionize healthcare delivery in the region.
In a statement released by her Special Assistant, Magnus Eze, she emphasized the need for diaspora Nigerians to address challenges at home.
They should replicate the development and infrastructure they enjoy abroad.
By taking these actions, they can significantly contribute to improving their homeland.
“Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu challenged Nigerians in the diaspora to end the spate of medical tourism,” the statement read.
Amb. Bianca Ojukwu implored them not to consider the United States and Europe as permanent homes.
Instead, they should take proactive steps to channel their skills and resources back to Nigeria.
The minister highlighted the importance of leveraging diaspora expertise and investments for growth.
This growth cycle can benefit both present and future generations significantly.
She urged Nigerians abroad to use progress in their host countries as a blueprint for local development.
The minister assured full support from both the Federal Government and the Imo State Government for the project.
She pledged that her office would collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure its successful realization.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Priscilla Otti, wife of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, praised Mbaise USA for its grassroots impact and development-driven agenda.
She expressed interest in future collaborations with the Medville initiative to further enhance healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
The Medville Medical City is expected to serve as a transformative healthcare hub, addressing critical gaps in medical services and reducing reliance on overseas treatment.
The project underscores the potential of diaspora-led initiatives in driving sustainable development across Nigeria.
