JUST IN: Trump Calls for Obama’s Arrest Over ‘Treason’ Claims

United States President Donald Trump has accused his predecessor, Barack Obama, of committing treason over the handling of intelligence linked to Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Trump made the startling allegation on Tuesday, July 22, during a press appearance at the White House while hosting Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.

The US resident was reacting to a newly released report from Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, which claimed that senior officials under the Obama administration manipulated intelligence to paint a false narrative against Trump.

“Based on what I read and I read pretty much what you read it would be President Obama.

He started it,” Trump said. “This was treason. And it wasn’t just him. It was Biden, Comey, Clapper, and Brennan. All of them were in on it.”

According to Gabbard’s report, criminal referrals have been sent to the U.S. Department of Justice.

She claims the report exposes deliberate efforts by Obama-era officials to fabricate links between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russian interference, fueling years of investigations into his presidency.

Despite Trump’s claims, multiple investigations conducted between 2019 and 2023, including those by Congress and intelligence oversight bodies, concluded that Russia did in fact interfere in the 2016 election to Trump’s benefit.

The bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led at the time by Republican Senator Marco Rubio, confirmed that the Trump campaign “sought to maximize the impact” of hacked Democratic emails released by Russian intelligence.

The Committee’s 2020 report described Russia’s meddling as one of the most serious threats to U.S. democracy in modern history.

Still, Trump has repeatedly dismissed the findings of the Russia investigations, labeling them as part of a politically motivated hoax.

On Monday, he faced criticism for posting an AI-generated video showing Obama being arrested a move many condemned as inflammatory.

The White House has not responded to Trump’s fresh allegations.

However, critics argue that the latest accusations are a political distraction, especially as Trump ramps up campaign activities ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Political analysts warn that the former president’s rhetoric, especially when directed at former leaders and top intelligence officials, could further deepen divisions in an already polarized nation.
