There’s rising tension in Iho Dimeze autonomous community in Ikeduru LGA of Imo state as bandits kill two prominent figures in Umuisiii village.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday, the traditional prime Minister of Iho Dimeze autonomous community, Hon Chief Sam Akah said two leaders, Hon Bon Osuagwu and IIbezim Njoku were murdered in cold blood by unknown assassins and the matter is still under investigation .

He said one Late Hon Bon Osuagwu was assassinated on the 8th of October last year and Ibezim Njoku was murdered this year in Lagos.

Hon Akah noted that both leaders were from the same kindred in Umuisii clan adding that the recent one is with the police for investigation

The former Executive Chairman of Ikeduru LGA said Iho Dimeze autonomous community is a breeding ground for cultism and related criminal activities.

He said the criminals are now ready to play or dance to the tune of whoever that hires them whether they are working for the community in any guise or being incited against personalities in the community.

The immediate past Regent of the Community asserted that there was recent clash between the LGA chairman and the community because of the project the chairman was building.

“The local Government chairman had given a PPP project of a motor park which is his right to do.

“He’s an elected local government chairman in Ikeduru and he should
be seen as the representative of the governor in Ikeduru and in fact
directly or indirectly is the governor of Ikeduru local government”, he noted

“And in time of crisis no matter where it is within Ikeduru he steps in.

“He’s doing very well, he has contended with this issue.

“But the chairman”s problem still remains who
incited those that destroyed the contractors’ blocks, and that brought
about regime change in my autonomous community.

Chief Akah said since then tension is
everywhere
given the fact that the government is not doing anything to protect the local government.

He said the reason is that the other President General was removed and government knows about that.

“Since then the environment has never been conducive for proper election and we are thanking the local government chairman for rising up to the occasion to arrest these situations.

” We are appealing to him to
please look into what caused the assassinations because he’s our governor in the local government.

“All these tensions and security can not give rise for a conducive atmosphere for any kind of organized groups.

‘It may result in a situation whereby people begin to turn their self into groups and begin to
become militant.

” So I’m calling on Imo state government to please through
the local government chairman continue to make peace and keep the place stable”, Akah stated

“I also want to use the opportunity to call on the president-general of Iho Dimeze autonomous community to please make haste to raise a leadership
in Umuisii village where these killings are going on.

” Because it is being believed and rumored that there’s no leadership there so you should go there and conduct an election in that village so as to raise a leadership that can give account of what is going on there.

“Having said that I want to call on other stakeholders of Ikeduru to please eschew violence for peace.

“I’m calling on other stakeholders, the indigene of Iho Dimeze in diaspora to help.

“I’m also calling on the Eze, the new Eze that is about two months old on the throne to please use his good
office to ensure that there is peace in the community”, he said.

He urged the Eze to unite Iho Dimeze people but not to divide them or doubt whatever government is doing but to work together with every segment of the society in Iho Dimeze to bring about a lasting peace.

He said matters should be reported to the police within the community stressing that the DPO is there .

He added that criminal cases are not to be reported to anybody but the Police.

“So there shouldn’t be any form of tax force, if there’s any arrests let it
be done by the police so that there won’t be duplication of offices”‘ he noted

Akah called on the Police to look into issue of cultism because last time they burnt a brothel and boggled his property.
