The Impact Of The Coalition Party On PDP As An Opposition

Share this:

It will be in the best interest of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be at the table for the coalition talks with all other parties.

I say this because the coalition party, nay ADC party, will automatically reduce the PDP to 2nd opposition in terms of number, spread, and strength.

In the next couple of days and weeks, there will be mass exodus and a cataclysmic movement to ADC or to any other coalition party there is.

It is better for the PDP to save face early in the day at the coalition stage. It may be too late too little for the PDP, hence the nunc dimitise.

Why it’s impossible to create a new state in Nigeria, nay in the South East

Alas! Let no one fool himself. It is practically and unrealistically impossible to create a new state for the southeast.

First and foremost, going by the Nigerian constitution of 1999 (as inelegantly amended), no civilian government can create a new state in Nigeria.

The reason is that the section of the constitution on the creation of a new state is poorly and inelegantly drafted in a hydra headed manner, which makes it impossible to create a new state.

Without first amending the present constitution, it is practically impossible to create a new state (mind you, I said impossible and not difficult).

The drafters appear to be under the influence of amphetamines (excuse my french).

The sections on the creation of state by the constitution state that there should be a plebiscite for the areas agitating for the new state. The constitution calls for state and national assemblies to vote and the two third of this and that…

If, going by the Constitution, it is possible to conduct a plebiscite in the areas agitating for state creation, it is also possible to conduct a referendum as being demanded by the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

It is this later tranche of inference that the Abuja government would want to suppress.

In summary, the constitution was and is not definite or clear on the creation of a new state. It is an exercise in futility to create a new state if the Constitution is not amended.

The Nigerian constitution is a worthless piece of paper that can not advance or bring about development in Nigeria. Grab it, bin it.
