(DDM) – Veteran Nollywood actress and style icon, Shaffy Bello, has offered candid insight into her current relationship status, declaring that she is no longer interested in dating younger men but remains open to marrying the right partner.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the actress made these remarks during an exclusive interview on the Diary Of A Naija Girl TV YouTube channel, published on Friday, July 25.
In the heartfelt interview, Shaffy Bello reflected on her personal journey, evolving views on relationships, and the transformation of her expectations regarding love and marriage.
“I don’t mind getting married,” she said.
“But I have a different opinion about marriage and what I believe in now.”
Bello, who has long been admired for her elegance and powerful screen presence, expressed that she no longer sees relationships through the lens of youth or pressure.
According to her, the social expectations tied to marriage—particularly for women—shift as one grows older.
“When you get to a certain age, the relationship circle becomes smaller,” she noted.
“But that doesn’t mean meaningful things can’t happen again.”
Bello firmly stated that she is not seeking to date younger men at this stage in her life.
“I’m not even interested anymore because I have got mine,” she said, suggesting a sense of personal fulfillment.
“I’m not interested in dating any young guy now, but I’m ready to get married to the right man.”
Reflecting on her younger years, Shaffy explained that marriage was once closely tied to reproduction and family building.
“Back then, it was all about falling in love, having a family of your own,” she said.
“But that’s quite different from where I am right now.”
Shaffy Bello, who returned to the Nigerian film industry in the early 2010s after years of living in the U.S., has consistently reinvented herself on-screen and off-screen.
She has featured in major productions like Chief Daddy, The Men’s Club, Battleground, and Your Excellency, earning critical acclaim for her charismatic and commanding roles.
Her views echo the sentiments of many women in their late 40s and 50s who, after raising children or achieving personal milestones, seek a deeper, more intentional connection rather than a conventional or transactional relationship.
The actress’s openness has sparked conversations online about maturity, standards, and the value of self-awareness in romantic pursuits.
Fans praised her honesty, with many social media users applauding her refusal to settle for less or be pressured into relationships that do not align with her purpose or peace.
While Shaffy Bello did not disclose whether she is currently in a relationship, her message was clear: emotional compatibility and maturity outweigh societal expectations or youthful attraction.
Her revelation comes at a time when more Nigerian celebrities—particularly women—are speaking up about choosing wholeness over haste and clarity over convention when it comes to marriage.
As conversations around modern relationships continue to evolve, Bello’s declaration may resonate with a growing audience of women who are redefining love on their own terms.
