(DDM) – Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has described fame as a burden that strips him of personal freedom and joy.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the Napoli star opened up during an interview shared by Instablog on X, where he reflected on the emotional weight of stardom.

The 26-year-old footballer recalled a painful experience when he missed a memorable first outing with his newborn daughter.

Osimhen said the outing was overshadowed by fans who turned the moment into a public spectacle.

He revealed that he had to hand over his daughter to his sister as he spent the day posing for photos and making videos with fans.

According to him, he could not enjoy that simple, intimate time with his family due to the constant attention of the public.

“Fame is boring,” Osimhen said.

“Sometimes you want to go outside, and you cannot do a lot of things,” he added.

Despite being one of Nigeria’s most celebrated footballers, Osimhen said he prefers to live close to everyday people.

He emphasized his desire to remain grounded, describing himself as someone who naturally feels more comfortable among ordinary citizens.

“I just like to be around these people. I just like to stay close to them,” he stated.

He explained that his preference for simplicity was not forced, but something he was born into.

The footballer also praised his older brother for offering consistent guidance through the highs and lows of fame.

“My elder brother is there to guide my footsteps, which is very important,” Osimhen remarked.

He further added that even when surrounded by armed security, he still makes efforts to remain accessible to people.

“If I have my security and they are strapped, for me, I’m good. I can be among these people,” he said.

“I don’t care. This is my life. This is how I live,” Osimhen concluded.

Victor Osimhen, who plays for Serie A giants Napoli, has remained a global football sensation since his explosive performance in the 2022–2023 season.

He led Napoli to their first league title in over three decades, becoming a cult hero in Naples and beyond.

But with the fame has come a different kind of challenge: the inability to enjoy private moments.

Osimhen’s comments shed light on the emotional toll stardom can take on public figures, particularly in the age of social media.

While many see only the glamour of football success, his experience reveals the loneliness and sacrifice that often lie beneath.

He joins a growing list of celebrities speaking out about the darker side of public life.

In recent years, other athletes and entertainers have opened up about mental health issues, anxiety, and loss of identity due to fame.

Osimhen’s story adds a Nigerian voice to that global conversation, showing that even heroes long for humanity.

Despite his achievements, Osimhen’s longing for a simple life remains evident.

His interview not only reveals his values but also invites fans to reflect on the human behind the headlines.
