Former National Security Adviser (NSA) and retired Major General, Babagana Monguno, has clarified comments attributed to Maryam Sanda Ribadu, the wife of the current NSA, Nuhu Ribadu.

The comments were made in a viral video where Ribadu seemingly attributed the relative peace along the Abuja-Kaduna highway to the killing of notorious bandits Kachalla Boka, Dogo Isah, and Kachalla Shekau.

In the video, Ribadu was heard saying, “You drive from Abuja to Kaduna now because we killed those bastards:”

Kachalla Boka, Dogo Isah, and Kachalla Shekau were in control of those areas The comments were widely reported and sparked reactions from various quarters.

However, Monguno has come out to clarify that Ribadu’s comments were taken out of context.

According to him, Ribadu was actually praising the military’s efforts in tackling insecurity in the region.

Monguno emphasized that Ribadu’s statement was not meant to take credit for the military’s operations but rather to acknowledge the progress made in securing the highway.

The killing of the notorious bandits has indeed brought some relief to travelers and residents along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

The operation, which was carried out by the military, has been hailed as a significant success in the fight against banditry in the region.

Banditry and kidnapping are still prevalent in many parts of the country, and the military continues to face challenges in tackling these security threats.

The clarification by Monguno highlights the need for accurate information and context in reporting on security issues.
